    I don't think your plate is a hobbyist plate. Your T & V Mark is mark 7, used from 1892 to 1907. I found the reference for this mark on page...

    What's this horse made of?

    It looks a little like howlite. Howlite is the stone that's used for dyed turquoise. It can be dyed almost any color.
