    I think Clutteredcloset is onto something......I hadn't considered the size of the stem. does not look stable enough to hold liquid without danger...

    The bowl looks like it could be alexandrite color, the stem not so much. Easiest way to check..... it'll be purple in incandescent light and blue...

    I'm thinking officially a Covered Vegetable dish. A soup tureen would have a notch in the lid for the ladle. But it would work for soup too!
