    The pearl looks far more better now! Check it doesn't move after the soaking... Back then they were "glued" on a little gold stick with plaster mixed with organic glue which comes soft and dilute in water...
    As pointed by @Bronwen, the few bad looking stones are surely a replacement, others are good rosecut diamonds:)
    Thinking of the pearl, it may too be a replacement (should have been more flat/button shaped if original:cyclops:)
    Feel your ring is 1880/90, so not cultured pearls then, and... rosecut was still used or... re-used;)

    Check out ebay. I've seen numerous pieces that have the same diamonds and are listed as as antique or victorian. Usually they are set in silver and are brand new. I am definitely with Debora on this. It is odd as the pearl is probably glued in, since the back is open and shows no pin? With that big a pearl I don't think that it would have remained in the setting very long without getting knocked out.
