1863 first hand account of confederate troops?

Hello all,

I found this scrap of paper in a 1844 family Bible in the Pittsburgh area after an estate sale. The Bible seemed to belong to a family that lived in Mechanicsburg, PA during the Civil War.

This seems to be a first hand account of Confederate troops within PA.
It reads:
June the Rebs 800 occupied the town this morning.
They have 5 pieces of artillery small guns
there are most all mounted infantry under Jinkins
there has just came in a battery of 7 pieces.

Mechanicsburg was the furthest north the Confederates made it and a skirmish did occur on June 28, 1863.

I honestly don't know what I have here. I mean, it's just a scrap of paper from a normal citizen making notes for themselves. Is there anyway to get this authenticated? any idea on value?

Any info would be great, or point me in the right direction?

I'd start with the local historical society. What was the name of the family? And other Civil War period notations or photographs in the Bible? Don't see that it needs authentication but... Your intention is to sell it for a profit rather than donate it to an institution? By way, I wouldn't separate it from the Bible; the Bible gives it provenance.
