Nice to finally see it. It is a beautiful painting, but definitely not by Allan Ramsay, much later, and a very different style. It looks like a gouache, btw.
She looks too recent for the 1850s too. Could it be that this is not the painting of the lawsuit?

I'm seeing various dates. That is certainly not a painting from the 1850-1860 period. The originally given dates of 1870-1890 possible.

mmm 1870-1890 could be possible.. it is within the dates Viscount Viera da Silva was still alive, and we know for certain that the painting was given to him during his lifetime for a case he worked on for a European royal family, and was given the painting as remuneration for the won case..

What is still strange is if the case was between 1850 - 1890, then the painting had to be done before.. else it wouldn't have any value to be given as compensation for his work..

I think the painting received as payment for the lawsuit must have been a different one.

From your expertise, what year could this painting have been made then...? and possibly in which country..?

Would the Coat of Arms Seal in the back help in any form to find the Artist or year..?

The painting is late-Victorian to early-Edwardian. Here's another from (roughly) the same period. These can be dated by the fringe (or curly bangs) which was a hairstyle from 1880s on.

It could link it to a firm in London which manufactured or sold art supplies. If you find the firm that carried such a coat of arms, you're on your way. Possibly a firm which also supplied to the City of London.

The artist could also have bought his supplies in a place that was supplied by the firm, whether as manufacturer or wholesaler. That could also have been outside London, or even outside the UK.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Renoir didn't make his A like that one, but it looks like it's done in his style.
