Odds are these are going to be melt, esp because of the damage in the enamel, but before going that route wanted to see if I could find the maker.

Ironically sort of "Omega" clips as discussed in a recent thread, but this closure is totally different.

One of the earrings must have been dropped, enamel is chipped, but lucky me because I think that is why they were donated. Got these years ago. I'm going through old stash.

    Anyone recognize the maker? Thanks.

I would think 1915 (his last date) a bit early.

Holly got there first. That's what I was thinking. The earrings are made by that famous designer Anonymous.

    They're clip-ons, so I'd wear them too.

Boy, that is the exact mark in the link. You guys are amazing! :singing::):joyful::cat::cigar::happy: Thanks!

I guess I was thinking that someone who went out of their way to wear 18K would want it perfect. But maybe they would be okay with it??

Could always just auction and see what happens.

    Thank you!

I bet @kyratango could tell you how to fix the small damaged area.

I have several pair of earrings with that type of clip - super comfortable.

They are beautiful and the damage is not obvious. Seems a shame to scrap them without giving them a chance to find a new owner :)

Of course! Easy with a touch of blue permanent marker (go to a craft\art shop and try the testers pens on it, no buying;)) then a droplet of clear nail polish... Et voilà!:)

What she said. That epoxy enamel stuff is fairly easy to fake. If all else fails they can still be scrapped.

At the time when Mainz still had its own city hallmark gold items were usually not hallmarked. Generally speaking only in some rare cases you find hallmarks indicating the pureness of gold on items produced in Germany/a German state before 1888, and even then they are usually based on the silver hallmarking system. Even today it is not mangatory to mark a jewellery item or a watch.
