Hi, got a beaut here! A cabinet of curiosities or a 'spice' cabinet. I believe it to be American; walnut and solid mahogany, not sure of the secondary wood used in the draws. Dimensions: 21" high, 18" wide 9" deep. Sadly, no secret draw and it smells of perfume rather than spices.

The bracket feet are 'backed up' with light maple(?) instead of glue blocks. I believe this addition is early 20th century given the crude angle brackets and machine made screws. The support along the bottom back is very recent and doesn't seem to have a purpose as it is loose. I believe the bracket pieces are original as they match the color and grain of the walnut on the rest of the piece. Any dissenting opinions?

I've removed the hinges as they were very new and didn't fit the piece. Does anyone have a guess as to what the original hinges looked like? Normally I'd say they would have been 'H' or 'HL' but the screw hole marks don't support this. However, the back of the door has two chiseled channels which may have supported some sort of strap hinge.

The backboard is 1/2" solid wood perhaps poplar or other light grained species.

Any opinions as to age or what to look for to determine age?
    Thanks!
