Home, sweet home. Probably something known about the maker locally.

The place onna left is a disgusting example of what...Gentrification?
It's beyond disregard for historical appearance...more like absolute rejection, completed by the gutter downspout!

Did lose a bit of its character, didn't it?

The one on the left's definitely been 'uglified' ! My God-why not try for just a smidge of faux Deco,Georgian,Tudor charm ? The mod windows & squaring off the arches, someone trying to save a buck i guess.

From the label on the back, I'd guess it was entered into a carving competition and has no specific meaning.

Here's a Edward G. C. Moore in Aldershot. A "musical instrument maker" at 15 and the right age to be carving in 1947. Father was Edward H. Moore so could possibly have gone by his middle name to avoid confusion within family.

I would have bought that as well. I would keep it as a novelty that I would have to dust often! Although it would sell well around here.

If not obvious to everyone, I think this is a lamp base.
