Same neighbor who had the framed Victorian hair weaving was getting rid of these. If I didn't take them they were getting pitched so now at my place. I know they aren't Victorian, thinking maybe 1940s or 50s. One is completely disassembled and the other has this ghostly white coating. I'm thinking of donating doll #1 somewhere and maybe pitching doll #2. Any reason to do different?

Actually the eyes are pretty well done as far as showing different expressions!

Any idea what's going on with the white surface on doll #2?

I was scared to look, but these are actually OK.:) The first one is quite pretty, but I have no idea what happened to the second one.:(
    I think 40s as well.

From the photos, it appears the 2nd doll has a rubber body......

The skin color indicates that it is.

Not sure why the head is white either. Almost looks like the normal skin color was washed away..............a guess only.

Effanbee is/was collected....not just because it's Effanbee, but because of the compo era. Several doll makers were in operation.

    Thank you, Judy and everyone.

I appreciate the thoughts on these! :) Agree that doll #1 has a great face with those eyes especially. I'm thinking I'll find a home somehow. Not sure it has much resale due to all the crazing, but who knows.

Unsure about doll #2 ... It seems like the material had some kind of decomposition to it.

    From Debora's wiki link:
"The judge ruled that drinking and urinating are natural movements and cannot be patented"

Dolls don't naturally drink and urinate.:hilarious:

I sold an Effanbee not too long ago same age but in very good condition except she needed to be restrung . I kept dropping the price finally sold it for $60. The white one I think is deteriorated rubber. My childhood puppets some how got stored in a plastic tub. Missouri is humid and that white showed up on the plastic heads though not that bad. I was able to scrub it off but yours looks beyond salvage.
