Hi, I wondered if anyone had an ideal what these might be, I found them in a 2nd hand shop on a recent trip to Scotland.

Each ring is 26mm wide with a diameter of 40mm The feel like a very hard pos. Brittle pastic, maybe bakelite.

The case (which I presume they came in is from a goldsmiths, Morton & Wilson, Edinburgh.

    Many thanks P1190736 (Medium).JPG P1190737 (Medium).JPG P1190738 (Medium).JPG P1190739 (Medium).JPG

The only thing I can think of is napkin rings.
I'm sure someone else has a better idea.

That was my first thought, I really can't think of anything else, it should be interesting to see if anyone has any other ideas :) thanks !

Seems strange they're be only 2 for napkin rings, no?

I don't know anything about napkin rings though.

Napkin rings, but the box is a marriage. it would have held a pair of silver ones.

That sounds right. I can't see molded materials starting off in such a box.

The box is likely to have more value than the contents.

Are there mold seams on them? If so, they are not Bakelite. If not you need to test them, though that color seems strange to me for Bakelite, JMHO :)

No there are no Seams on them, just perfect solid rings. Very Odd!

The color is eau de Nil and, yes, a very popular Art Deco color.

I've had that pale green in Bakelite. As to napkin rings, if Bakelite, a harlequin set can sell well but not two singles - this is a set I had, no mould lines. The box is indeed the thing.

Thank you so much for all your replies, lots to think about, it looks like a tube of simichrome is a handy item to have in my toolbox so I'll get one ordered :)

    Thanks Everyone :)
