42 star flags are somewhat rare. They were never adopted as an official banner of the good ol' US of A because Idaho decided to ruin Washington State's party by becoming a state 8 months or so later.

I came across this 42 star flag at a flea market and of course, I had to have it! What makes this flag odd is that it only has 7 stripes. Any idea why? I can't find any other examples. It's about 8 feet long and 3 feet wide. Thanks for any info!

It looks like modern fabric and modern machine stitching, so I doubt it's old, but others will know better than me.

Is this shape more of a banner than an actual flag?

If you look at the first pic, the eyelets at the top and bottom and appear to have not been altered. So the flag would not have been halved. No?

Outstanding searching skills via @Roaring20s. *thumbs up*

Sad they don’t openly provide more information about this and hope you can request and obtain some info. I do find it unconventional for a 42star/7stripe flag to be made during WWII. What would it be symbolizing? Can it even be considered an American flag based on the strict regulations and symbolism regarding our flag. I tried for hours to find any other website with confirming data and came up with zilch. Just passing thoughts.

Great Find @vitry-le-francois *double thumbs up*

If the WWII era date is correct, I bet it dates from 1939 ...
