Just to give an idea of why actual size is important in identifying the purpose of a piece, this is my pierced bowl spoon of similar form by Hanau, Germany maker Gebrüder Dingeldein in .830 silver for the Danish market, topped with the 1903-48 version of the Danish royal coat of arms - it's 8-5/8" long (the length of a fairly large banana), the bowl 3-1/4" in diameter. At that size, in Denmark it would have been considering a strawberry spoon (jordbærske), for draining the juice and serving the cut berries after being prepared with sugar, a similar size Dutch piece for basically the same purpose, would be a wet fruit spoon/scoop (natfruitlepel/natfruitschep) - but if the length of a fairly small banana, would be a sugar sifter.

Forget Brabant, US, Canada etc; we all live in the State of Confusion. (especially when contemplating American politics but....)
