Featured a bit OT... explosion of pigments

    is anyone around that could explain what exactly happens to the pigments when they heat them up to ~1200° C ? this here is a pen tray from Pierrefond.

    I don't know the scientific explanation for what happens in the kiln or the glaze formula, but I do know it's called crystalline glaze.

    I like it !! And for some strange reason..I think of gingko leaves....I am becoming very senile I believe..:eek::confused:
