Oh, I like the one to the right of it better. More space age looking.

Unfortunately not at this point. Selling it is probably a bit of a way off as it won't be decided what to do with everything until my dad passes away.

That's quite alright. It's the cycle of life, I guess. My dad's been in very poor health the last 2 years, so the constant trips to the hospital, in a weird way, have kind of prepared me for what's coming. It was the same for my mom as well.

I'm sure we have lots of cool toys around here to be uncovered. I came across a really cool coppersmithing kit for kids the other day in their garage; I was really bummed there were no more copper sheets left to use. I guess I could buy some copper sheeting somewhere.

I also remember a toy we had, was it called Creepy Crawlies or something? You got to make your own little rubber creatures. Awesome!

And another I just thought of, and I know I've seen it around here, was this little tin mechanical box you would wind up. It had a little platform that you would lay a coin on, and after winding it up, a fluorescent creepy green hand would pop out and grab the coin. I gotta find that one.

Is that a bottle of "Heaven Scent" perfume I see in that bunch second from the left in the front? I remember buying that for my mom on many occasions.

A lot of money in the 1960s.

    Tabu one of my favorites.
    Your Mom had good taste.

Aren't Creepy Crawler machines still popular.
We had one in the 60s and I bought one for my son in the early 90s.

    Great saves by your Mom.

    I think it is.

I wonder how well perfume stands the test of time. I know vintage perfumes are a popular sell on ebay depending on the brand.

You're right. It wasn't until recently that I've realize just how much my mom did. I don't know how she did it all. Four kids and she still kept the house clean with a full meal on the dinner table every day.

Boy did I underestimate what a good mother she was until I had children myself.

Yes, I saw some newer ones on ebay when I was looking for the vintage ones.

Strange that I didn't buy one for my children when they were younger, but I may have seen them and just couldn't afford it at the time.

Me too. My folks have some beautiful furniture, but that ashtray is one of the few things I'd like to keep for myself for some odd reason. Maybe because it really sticks in my mind from my childhood because it was so different from my grandparents' other furnishings.

I was wondering that too when I saw that. It sure would be a slap of nostalgia to get a whiff of Heaven Scent. I suspect the better perfumes stand their own longer. Heaven Scent was not expensive new.

Sure you're not thinking of The Thing from the Addams family? You threw a switch on top and then a hand came out of the box, turned the switch off, and retracted.
