Featured A couple of rings hallmark ID's

    And where from.

    The first one is I believe 14k-18k gold with a carved single pearl.
    The pearl has a very light green tint.
    The hallmark is very tiny and on the outside of the ring.
    These are the best pics available for now.
    The hallmarks might not be the right way up.

    Second one might be white gold, platinum or silver, not tested yet.
    7 diamonds, again hallmark is really tiny and on the outside.
    Spider or Ant I've seen on here before but can't find it.

    Portugal, post-1938, specifically for white gold. I would have to check my books for the town.

    Just checked, the town is Porto.
    Portuguese assay towns use different cartouche shapes.

    Davey, I can't really tell from the photo, how is the pearl carved? Is it a blister pearl maybe? (A pearl attached to the shell, and carved from it to be set in jewellery.)

    It looks like a tooth, a fat incisor.
    I will have to take better photos in daylight.

    I have a feeling it might be from the Middle East, Dubai or similar, looking at where the people travelled.

    Do you think the mark could be a crescent moon ?

    Just looked again, with fresh eyes.:playful: (Wherever were they before?)
    It does look like a crescent moon. Is there something on the inside of the curve of the crescent? A star maybe?
    There is a pre-1925 crescent moon and star mark for Casablanca, but the ring looks more 1960s to me.

    Maker's mark CG or CB? Moroccan maker's marks with Latin script are usually in those French style lozenge shapes.

    Just thinking out loud here.:)

    Not much improvement on the spider silvery one as the 4 lights won't switch off and there is too much reflection.

    Indeed! I have one, but we are not on speaking terms. My fault.

    Other than an early 19th century crescent moon mark for Winschoten, Netherlands, I can't find anything resembling this mark. The ring is not early 19th century Winschoten, so no joy.

    The northern Netherlands used to have more crescent moon marks, as did Turkey, but none resemble this mark.
    I don't know why we have crescent moon marks in the north, but the funny thing is that my family crest (father's side) also has a crescent moon. Originally a northern family, from Friesland.
