Hi All, a couple of sterling pieces I need help with.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)
#1 Gorham sterling, I'm trying to find the pattern name, not sure if this piece is part of a set or not. I looked and couldn't find anything but thought I would ask here. Engraved on the back with 1985

#2 London Sterling Sugar nips/tongs - I thought the top figure was an apostle (maybe Phillip with the staff?), bottom figure looks like an angel? I can't find anything similar, thought if I asked here someone would be able to find another one.

Your Gorham piece looks like Luxembourg.

Some serving pieces also made in silverplate beginning in 1977.

The London hallmark on the tongs have the date letter Q for the assay year 1891/92 and the makers mark, JW over FCW, of Wakely & Wheeler (James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler).

They would probably have originally been part of an "apostle" teaspoon and tongs set.

Wonderful, thank-you Phil, you have good eyes, it took me a bit of time to figure out the maker:) Sorry, I should have said I knew the date/maker/location. Have you seen them with the angel figure?

They do occasionally come with motifs of some sort at the bowl end. This version of Wakely & Wheeler's mark is quite distinctive in shape so I was pretty sure what it was even before seeing the letters.
