Hi all, Happy easter for those who celebrate.
I purchased this teacup the other day at my favorite thrift, and I had a couple questions about age and why the writing is in English.
This is an early mark of Carl Tielsch. The Blue C.T. mark dates from 1875 to 1909.
Could this be dated to earlier or after 1900?
Why is the Kind Remembrance in English?
On a side note, Some are calling this type of cup a Mustache cup. While others are saying it is for a teabag rest. Any comments on that appreciated.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

Mustache cup, note the sip-through hole.
And I see no reason to rest a teabag within one's cup! It would get in one's face when drinking.
Hobbyist painted in an English-speaking country?

Made for the English speaking market?
Made as a moustache cup imo. I'm not even sure there were any teabags when this was made.;)

    Thank you @bluumz @Any Jewelry and @Debora
Interesting that it could have been painted in the U.S. I hadn't thought of that.

However, I have seen a number of cups (made in Germany and not necessarily moustache cups) of the same type that say "remember me" and similar homilies in German, and written in a gothic font like OP's. I would've thought like Any Jewelry that it might have been made for export. German factories made a ton of souvenir wares for North America in the late 19th and early 20th c. However, I don't doubt Debora's info.

My information is just about the invention of the tea bag.

I have seen a few Welsh souvenirs made in Germany. This always confused me a little but it makes sense now..

I think most souvenirs made in China now. It is confusing.

Now I had to look up the invention of the tea bag.
I thought it looked a little feminine for a man's mustache cup.
