    Hi joolies!:)

I just snatched this piece, so the pics are from the listing.

It was described as silvered metal or bronze, with opalescent pearls :hilarious:.
The elements are 4.5cm,:) total length is 48cm.

Obviously, the clasp is a new replacement.

I bought it because of the well set moonstones, the (illegible to me:facepalm:) signature, the fact it is numbered, and the links seem to each bear a mark (hallmark?).

I have a Nordic vibe from it, but this isn't my area/era of knowledge:oops:

I hope some of you will be able to help, thinking @DragonflyWink for the moment!

    Marks on each link!

Maybe upper left mark (spun a little) is an anchor? 021F6620-DBF4-4F7B-82D7-4CD63212BCF5.jpeg

Oh Kyra, that's a great piece! The random marks at the top are assay-scrapes (diets), I have no idea why there would be so many, or why what appears to be proper Chester hallmarks (missing sponsor mark) were defaced - British assay offices will deface marks they consider false or forgeries, but they wouldn't do those assay-scrapes. The Chester assay office closed in 1962, so if that's what they are, would be a fairly early Brutalist piece.

edit: Believe the sponsor/maker's mark is present, stamped incuse and defaced as well - 'LH'?

Perhaps Bear can help, would flag her, but my laptop doesn't allow me to do that here anymore...

Wow, kyra! Now that is Brutalist as it should be.
The gentle look of the moonstones against the rough Brutalist silver is a beautiful contrast, it works so well, with each demanding the same amount of attention.
Those signatures are made by evil forces to taunt us!:arghh:
Some look like crowns, others seem to be more intricate? The crown ones could be partly stamped intricate marks?

Thank youuuu! So, not Nordic... I suspected the L.H was a maker mark, and there was some kind of defacing of marks on the back...
Silver it seems, with hollow big links

    Calling @Ownedbybear :singing:

    thanks Kyra!

That is one of the most brutalist brutalist necklaces I have ever seen!
Even the back marks brutalized! I do not know the maker, but love it!

What troubles me is that the marks are not stamped in a hub (all in a row), nor is the maker's mark in a cartouche - makes me wonder if old scrap silver was used to craft the piece - and it would be illegal in the UK to leave the marks intact...

    Ha! Thanks AJ:kiss:
Moonstones attract me like magnet!:D I seem to spot them in improbable descriptions (opalescent pearls they said... but the pic screamed moonstone:cyclops::joyful:

The signature needs a specialist of these pieces who has already seen it elsewhere:bigtears: definitely not me:(

Now to receive it and examine thoroughly, then find an appropriate clasp (chunky hook?) and get rid of this awful lobster clasp;)

Will you believe I paid 70€ for it:shame:

I thought it was made from melt silver, and can’t understand previous marks would have stay from the process:confused:
Hopefully @Hollyblue can explain how these brutalist pieces were/are made:woot:

They appear to be cast copies of original pieces. If you look at the photo with the wriggle engraving/testing marks you can see casting bubbles on top of the cut lines.Maybe better photos can show more when you receive the piece.

Interesting, could you circle the areas in question to see better what it is?
The piece is numbered, the numbers are stamped and the scratched LH too, not casted IMHO.
