Hi everyone. I recently came across this patinated bronze urn. I think just visually it's worth the 20$ they're asking for, however I would appreciate if someone could share more information about it - dating / origin / do you think it's an urn used for ashes, or just a bronze jar?

    Thank you in advance!

Attractive, but to my eye it looks like a modern import - thin walled, spun metal (not cast), with an artificial surface patination.

    Ditto.
It is nice, if you want it, maybe you can haggle?

Unfortunately I don’t have a pic of the bottom but there are no markings.

Sounds reasonable. I really like how it looks, so it’s not really important to me whether it’s an actual antique. Are you aware of what it’s supposed to imitate? Are these traditional urns?

I really like it, and I think I would’ve spent the money even if it was brand new. I might just support the store since it’s actually just one guy trying to make ends meet.

That's very nice of you. And supporting small shops is important.

It is sort of a ginger jar shape, but could be used for anything.

The lid looks like an old school hotel desk bell. You could do worse for a $20 decorative piece. Especially if it’s a nice local guy. Pleasant looking little storage jar.
