This is a transcription of a very moving WWI letter I bought a couple of years ago, at an estate sale near me. For this Memorial Day holiday...

Thank you so much for that letter. War doesn't really change much, does it.

Bluumz, thank you SO much for posting that link! I kept quietly sucking in my breath as I looked at the photos of the place -- and the soldiers. I will send a copy of the letter to the group that apparently sponsors the site, the Friends of Oldway; perhaps they can help find "Guy/Emp" and identify him for us.

I haven't looked at the letter I bought a few years ago, but I *think* it is typed on onionskin-type paper. so I assume I have the original. I therefore assume it is perfectly OK to give permission for your wonderful proposed use of it. I suspect Guy/Emp would approve, too.

EDITED TO ADD: Did it take me so long to reply that you decided against the request I thought I saw here, but which seems to be gone now? Nonetheless, you are welcome to use it as proposed, if you want to.

(I have keyboard issues, things strangely disappear or get typed in the wrong place when I edit!)
Yes, thank you, I'd love to print it out and take it to the Veterans Hospital where I work to remind us of why we serve those who served! (What I orginally typed but oddly disappeared when I edited something else in my post.)
