My thoughts are granite. But I just don't know. Can anyone tell me? And she's kind of dingy [yellowed] in areas, any suggestions on how to clean?

It could be feldspar or a number of other minerals.

Haha!!!! Well then, it's NOT one of those thumb indented 'stress-relieving' little pieces of stone that you carry with you in your bag or pocket!!!!!:rolleyes::smuggrin::smuggrin::joyful::joyful::joyful:

I don't know what kind of stone it is, however, I don't think it looks like granite. Maybe unpolished marble?

Marble? I'm searching for example. Its very smooth and cold. And no flaws.
I'd like to auction off as many of these Estate items as fast as I can, but I come across things I can't properly describe...which is why I NEED you all!
    The input helps. Very grateful

I'm thinking marble also; marble comes in a lot of different colors and patterns, depending on where exactly it is from.
    Here are some examples:
And if it was mine, I'd polish it by rubbing first with a coarse grit, then medium, then fine....but then, I've got a polishing kit which you may not have. I don't think there's any great value, so I might also try washing in soap and water, then applying a clear wax finish.
I'm sure others will have other suggestions.

I'll take your advice all_fakes. thank you! It's not so much the value anymore, I'm just looking to move things as fast as possible. [it's gettin a little crowded around here ] But I do put the time in to clean up each piece, so I'm on it!
