    Well just so you don't walk away with nothing, the links do give a lot of good information on points an lithics in Virginia.

    One thing that does seem to confuse the situation is that often points are given names based on the location some are found and documented. One good example is the Clovis point from a cache found in Clovis NM.

    Probably better terms are about the way they're made. So, side notched, corner notched, stemmed and fluted are good places to begin.

    Hi,
    We had a wonderful guy who was an expert of "points"on the board here. I can not remember his name but he ID'd a number of my arrowheads and were they were from.

    A gentleman at "Plimoth Plantation" used to demonstrate that he could make arrowheads out of Coke bottle bottoms! Apparently, the use of pressure is what is needed to shape the arrowheads, and not the use of hitting them hard. My uncle had a couple thousand - and was proudest of those from the Archaic period.
