African Carved Figure

    Hi everyone. I was hoping someone might be able to give me some information on this little figure. It has the original tag on the bottom. He's 8 1/2" high. Type of wood and age would be great. Thanks for any help at all.

    I think it is an export stamp maybe?
    Reads
    Republic of Angola Ministry of education and culture.
    National institute of cultural heritage.

    Bottom reads keep this stamp until before your boarding.

    The label includes "No de Ordem 001300/2000" (number of order_____/2000). I suspect 2000 is the year the individual number was assigned, and may be close to when the carving was created. The minimalist style is a modern thing, and similar carvings are produced in more than one country in Africa, as well as Indonesia (which copies everything). So you are lucky to have the label which identifies the origin as Angola.
