With those spiral carvings, the shape of the eyes, the way the feet are not carved, and the back view, it looks more like Papua New Guinea, Sepik river area, mid-20th century.

Kopar ancestor figure, from Lower Sepik, just looked it up.

    Thanks Taupou.
Mine is 16", being mid century and not finely carved, plus no provenance, I guess very moderate value?
By the way, how old is the Sothebys piece?

It was in the shop next to another statue that I was debating to buy or not and someone else got it. I kind of feel sorry I did not buy it.
It was also short legged, with penis and large spherical head. Any idea what it was?

No, small thingy just like the other one. The head was round. Not flat but sphere. Not so rough surface but smoother.

I also need help identifying the african wood statue. It's 1 m tall.
    Got it as a present.
Would be grateful if someone can give me more details? What is this the man is holding? Aprox age of the statue? Origin country.
    Thank you.
