absolutely, quite an interesting concept, a copy of a painting thats not really ever been a painting

 

That's why we like antiques, right? A little mystery (that may lead to riches). I enjoy the discovery and the challenge of figuring out what something is. Better if it's $$$ of course, but the detective work keeps us sharp!

 

You know a lot about applied/graphic arts & fine arts @mirana ,may I ask what your background is ?

Ditto-I like to stay in 'the black' financially when it comes to feeding my habit (picking)-dangerous to be dipping into the grocery cash or pension pot to feed the tchotchke addiction.

 

Oh uhh... Lifelong arts obsession. I had first clients while in high school, took adult art classes, and went to a known art college with a scholarship for an undergrad in a commercial art. Worked throughout college in an art supply store, at art-based conventions all over US, became a picture framer, and managed a different art supply store where I used, and was taught in detail, all the various media available to artists by the reps of those companies. I worked with clients in comics, books and games as an illustration freelancer for many years. I have showed and sold art in various juried shows. I have taught workshops and go to art openings and lectures monthly. Have worked in just about every dry and wet media, many digital apps, sculpting, prop making, and a long list of sundry lol. Then I went into film where I use a bunch of those skills lol.

I watch documentaries and yt on history and art constantly. How things are created and restored. I go to lots of museums and stare for hours. I browse online collections for fun.
And of course I learn lots of stuff from the lovely folks here!

This does not mean I'll be right because there's only so much you can guess, but I try my best. I'm always happily learning too!

 

its quite obvious in this one, see the horizontal and vertical lines of the etching underneath, while i was looking at the edge its further in and painted over
