Featured Agate? disc... whatsit? Hockey puck?

    I think this is dyed agate...it's harder than glass as I was able to scratch glass with it, so not calcite/alabaster/travertine. It's 3" in diameter and an inch high. Maybe something a rockhound made? Or does it have a specific purpose? Highly polished all around. Just another odd piece I picked up - anyone have any ideas what it might be? Thanks!

    It may be modern or carved some time ago at Idar-Oberstein Germany which was the stone carving capital.

    It could hold paper clips, if it must have another purpose, but I suspect paperweight too.

    The agate has been dyed to this shade of blue & country of origin is most likely Mexico. Agree it's a desk accessory. In the photo below, only the area from about 3 to 5 o'clock is natural; the other wedges have been dyed by various means.
