Aging a Slaymaker lock

While it isn't marked with a railroad company I have been calling it a railroad lock since my FIL worked on the railroad starting in 1947 and his father started around 1910.</p><p><br /></p><p>Any info on age, value, what the markings might mean, etc welcome.
