    Hi all,

Had some nice snow accumulation so figured a good time to get some detailed pics of this glass. I'm wondering if it is Georgian and what type of air twist that is? Mercurian? Actually, any info about the glass would be most helpful. Thanks!

No that's not a Georgian glass, it is made in a press mould, you can see the moulding lines. It is an attempt to copy an incised twist (the detail is on the outside of the stem). From the decoration it is likely inter-war period, possibly Japanese.

And, Georgian glasses don't have safety rims. ;)

Thank you for that info, Ce BCA & OBB! I picked up a few of these glasses a while back. Thought they looked neat, especially with that stem. Given the design features you guys mentioned mentioned, and the likely origin, I'm assuming they're not worth much at all? Might look good in a lighted curio, though.

@dude - I think you have a Rocke Sharpe Grecian liquor cocktail.

    https://www.replacements.com/crystal-rock-sharpe-grecian/c/52426

If you look at the first photo you will see what looks like a thicker edge at the top. That is referred to as a "rolled rim" or "safety edge".

Libbey who purchased the Rock Sharpe Co. is quite well known for using this type of rim on their glasses. I think it is thought to prevent the edges from chipping so easily.

Air twist stemware has a twisted thin column of air encased within the glass of the stem, it is not etched or molded on the outside of the stem.
That said, I love Rock Sharpe stuff and have quite a bit myself!

This appears to be the one:

Glasses, Liquor / Cocktail Stemware, Blossom 3007 / 6700, Rock Sharpe Crystal

    https://www.antigotrunk.com/shop/se...ossom-3007-6700-rock-sharpe-crystal-set-of-6/
    • Pattern: Blossom, Stem#3007, Cut 6700 (Discontinued)
    • Made in USA by Rock Sharpe Crystal
    • Vintage: 1940’s

Factoring in the free shipping (I imagine about $15 for 6 of those wrapped glasses), looks like they value the goblets at about $10 each.

I first ID'd the blank stem & then the cutting using a reference book written by the guys who own Replacements. It is easier done that way because many of the cuttings have very similar aspects & it is easier to do using the drawings in the book.

I'm not familiar with Rocke Sharpe, but I was surprised to see a wheel-cut bowl on a pressed stem. How odd!
