allegorical pearlware figural 23" tall. who are these guys?

    another question is when the glaze flakes off (like it does on the laurel crown he's wearing) is that supposed to be another layer of white glaze underneath or is that the ceramic material?

    I cant recall glaze chipping like that,so I wonder if it was cold painted ?

    Definitely appears to have been cold painted.

    It's a white bisque porcelain clay body with a clear glaze underneath the paint.

    Sunday, it's a beautiful figurine, not sure how old it is, but definitely has age to it. I've not ever seen one as tall as yours. I don't know the back story on it, but wait and check back, others who come by to look may know.
