    Hi all,

Picked up this small painting at auction, it appears to be on tin or some kind of metal? The subject appears to be a copy of a painting done by Charles-Antoine Coypel from the 18th century:

Workshop of Charles-Antoine Coypel - Old Master Paintings 2014/10/21 - Estimate: EUR 8,000 to EUR 12,000 - Dorotheum

Any idea if this one has any age? Or has it been fake aged? It measures 7.5"x6.75". I can't for the life of me make out what is says in the top left corner in red- can you?! Thanks for any info as always!

I think that's decorative. The brushwork is all funky. The illegible signature in red is suspicious. The frame is too elaborate. Compare the quality against this, from the artist's workshop according to the internet.

Thanks for your input. I wasn't suggesting that it was by the artist or from his workshop, I know it's not painted like those. I was just wondering if it had any age and if anyone could make out what the text said. Still a pleasant decorative piece (to me), funky painting and all lol.

I doubt it's from 1803. I think that it was always intended to be a decor piece that was artificially aged.
