Aluminum Bar With Slit in it

    I have an aluminum bar with a slit in it. The dimensions are 4 3/4" x 3/4" x 3/8". The slit in the aluminum bar is 3 3/4" long. I would like help to find out what this aluminum bar with a slit is? I tried a different forum who I appreciate their efforts and wisdom but were unable as myself to figure this out. Thank you for assistance in this item.

    looks counter sunk for a screw...so maybe a vent of some kind.......
