Amber necklace

It seems a bit strange to buy specifically polybern pieces, but my interest in Fischland jewellery grew out of my love for Georg Kramer Art Deco jewellery.

Walter Kramer, the 1920s-30s head designer for Georg Kramer, designed some unique jewellery. All designs were based on the coastal region of Fischland, and he only used local real Baltic amber and stones mined in Germany.
When the eastern part of Germany became the GDR Walter fled to the west, and his company was 'nationalised' as Fischland. When I researched Walter Kramer, I noticed that Fischland had also made some nice pieces which are now being recognized as a specific part of that strange GDR period.

Definitely PolyBern I think! To begin with I thought the whole thing fluoresced until I found the beads with less densely packed amber chips which clearly shows they are set in the ‘poly’!

GDR products are gaining more interest outside Eastern Germany. Should you ever want to sell it, be sure to mention the connection. Until then, just enjoy it.
