This is a souvenir from Bali, intended for home decor.

It is a hand in mudra. Mudras are religious hand positions, symbols that convey a specific message.
Yours is the mudra of increasing cosmic energy, transforming negative emotions to positive, and promoting higher thought. It is a mudra of purification, which is often seen on Hindu deities.

Carving the hands separate from a statue is a recent development, copied from Thai bronze Buddha hands.
These are still being made, and yours looks pretty recent.

You can use them for jewellery display, if you wish. You can use anything to display jewellery. And sellers will call it jewellery display if it sells better that way.
