Anasazi Vase

I bought an Anasazi Singing Sunflower vase. Everything is carved in the bottom for ID. Is this some kind of reproduction? 6 1/2" tall.

 

Is the question whether this is a reproduction of a known Anasazi design or just someone using "Anasazi" as a brand name?

 

Could someone marked it as to what is is and when they got it?

 

Most likely a modern/vintage piece inspired by ancient pottery. This appears to be a copyright mark -

The copyright symbol pretty much gives the game away. Suggests that it is not even a reproduction; someone's contemporary work. I can't imagine incising writing onto a genuine Anasazi artifact & the writing looks like it was done while the clay was wet.

Ditto all-don't believe the Anasazi had a written alphabet, petroglyphs and pictographs.

 

Is that an actual copyright? I find it strange that the name of a known civilization or art form can be copyrighted.

 

I suspect that the copyright is for the design by the potter and not the name Anasazi. I doubt that could be copyrighted.

 

I wouldn't be so sure about that. There's also the possibility that the potter is putting the copyright symbol on without actually having registered the name, although I suspect what they really want to protect is the shapes & decoration.
