Chased decoration with some kind of overlay...copper and...silver? Or something silvery/almost black. Not sure if the glyphs are even accurate enough to represent real glyphs or if this is purely decorative. I recognize some of the symbols / characters/gods in this scene but don't know if it constitutes a cohesive scene, or again, just fantasy/decorative. I know the metalwork doesn't look ...excellent, but there is some decent detail in there. The base has some markings in script that I don't recognize...

Weighs 15 ounces. About 4" high, and the top is 4" in diameter, the widest part of the pot goes to about 5" in diameter.

Tourist item from egypt? Older? Made somewhere else?

Was a bit tough to get good pics in the light box - might try a few in sunlight tomorrow if I get the chance:

So after poking around a bit I'm gonna guess this is probably around 50-100 years old and just decorative. Other opinions/info still very welcome :)

You've already answered your own question.:) And yes, it is a tourist item from Egypt. I think 1930s-50s.
Just want to add that this style of metalwork is based on Medieval Mamluk Ware and later Cairo Ware. Both types of metalware had Islamic decorations like scrolls and calligraphy, all executed with inlay of different metals in brass or copper.
Mamluk and Cairo wares are related to the Damascus style metal inlay.

The markings don't look Egyptian to me, maybe because I just don't know enough. Think it is right way up in 1st pic, but turned it over in case it makes sense to someone that way round. What looks like 90 could be Arabic 95.

Thank you AJ! Great information as always. Whenever I type a post to ask a question here I always find myself Googling what I'm looking for to make sure I didn't miss anything before I ask my question. And sometimes I do manage to answer my own questions...somewhat... but as you often demonstrate, there is almost always a lot more to the story than a simple Google search will tell!

It could be Coptic, by someone with very bad handwriting.:) Coptic script is based on Greek with some Egyptian Demotic letters/hieroglyphs added to it.
