Angel Ornament - painted bisque?

Any info about this Christmas ornament would be awesome; I think it used to have some fluffy cotton for a cloud around the base of it. Thanks very much, Tom.

 

It kind of has the look of composition rather than porcelain. Can we see the bottom, please?

My mother has some very similar angels on the Christmas tree when I was a kid in the 1960's. They were sort of a plaster of Paris material...

I concur. This sweet little angel is made of plaster. Tons of these were made in the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. The majority of this type of figurine were produced in Italy, although some were made in Germany, too. Similar ones were made in Japan, but those were made of ceramic. Yours is definitely plaster, also called composite and/or papier mache.
