The five-pronged version harmonizes the process, makes it more peaceful.</p><p>The outer prongs are protected by Makaras, a Makara is a protective mythical beast. They are often seen on vajras.</p><p><br /></p><p>The lower faces are unusual, I haven&#039;t seen these particular ones before. I suspect they are Vajrakila faces.</p><p>Vajrakila is the wrathful version of the beautiful Vajrasattva, a Bodhisattva (aspect of the Buddha).</p><p>As with Mahakala, the wrathful Vajrakila looks fierce, but he helps the person seeking enlightenment. He clears obstacles on the path, especially those related to obscuring the path.</p><p><br /></p><p>My theory is that this special phurba was made for someone who had already reached enlightenment.
