    It's Bisque.

    VICTORIAN BISQUE PORCELAIN

The term bisque describes a piece of porcelain that has not been glazed. Bisque porcelain is dull and has a sandy, dry feel, while glazed porcelain is shiny and smooth. Some bisque porcelain is kept unpainted (as white) because if painted, the colors usually become pastel tones and look quite like watercolor.

Small bisque figurines were very popular in the late 1800’s in Europe. Victorian Bisque porcelain is somewhat rare in terms of stumbling upon.

    GENERAL RULES
    • The larger the size and amount of detail = larger price!
    • Condition is everything. If there are minor cracks/chips/staining, take 25% what it would be if it were perfect...........FIX THE FOOT.

I like the concept of the figures cavorting on the vase as if it were giant size, or as if they were fairies. Beautiful modelling.

Can you clean the bottom of your vase, carefully, to try to bring out any Hallmarks?

It's my understanding that Hallmarks are restricted to metals.

And he can't "fix the foot" because he does not have it.

It is NOT bisque porcelain. Far too porous and coarse.

    It is earthenware.

From Britannica: Porcelain, vitrified pottery with a white, fine-grained body that is usually translucent, as distinguished from earthenware, which is porous, opaque, and coarser.

  16. 20210804_19049.jpg I am sorry to all, but I didn't see the text (photo) on the side of the vase before now. Maybe that will disclose the vase.

That reads Deshamps av, Feeit or Peeit to my eyes.

I believe the French spelling has a C as in Deschamps.

It is absolutely NOT bisque, it is absolutely earthenware.

The F word is FECIT - made it in Latin. I think it does say Deschamps: the c is top of the h.

I think it's Slovakian for "Please fix my foot"...lol. In all seriousness, it's a pretty vase no matter what it is ........
