    More research, and information gleamed from collectors more knowledgeable than I, seem to confirm my suspicions that the mirror is Peranakan, or at least Peranakan adjacent.

    Very excited by the confirmation!

    I agree that is more likely than China or the Straits. It could still have been traded to the Straits, of course, not that far away.

    Vietnam is still known for exquisite MOP inlay in natural woods, whereas China has more inlay in lacquer.

    I was told that the style was more indicative of Southern China (from which most Peranakan families -- including mine -- have their roots), which is why they would've been interested in purchasing items like this. The auction-house also listed it as Chinese.
