    3400 pounds no surprise at all,the world's oldest toilet paper roll would prob go for 10 times that much.

    Might be what's called a "feather tree".

    If you read the story, it says it is the first artificial tree that is not a feather tree. At least that is how I read it.

    It says the first bristle-style tree was made in 1930, but that may mean on a large commercial scale and that earlier bristle-style trees can be found. It's ambiguous.

    So it comes down to whether or not this tree has feathers. But that's a really steep price for a feather tree, I don't think they're all of that rare.
