Hey guys, I need your opinions on this.
A garage sale I was at today had an antique Rowe cigarette vending machine, and I kind of shied away from it because they were asking 300. Even if I hagled down, that's still a lot of money. Is that a good price for something like that? I plan to go back in the morning and hope they still have it.

I can't remember exactly what model it was, but it was something like one of these 2. I think it was more similar to the black one.[IMG] [IMG]

For you or for resale? Seems like a lot of money to me but really not my expertise. Both of these shown are nicer than we usually see.

Well I would hold on to it for a bit, then turn it around and make a little profit. In researching this I found one on eBay for quite a large amount, several thousand in fact. But it's the only one. The pictures I posted are both from auctions for less than a thousand. One was 375, and the other was like 800.

The auction prices are probably more realistic. I always envision what things will sell for in my market. Hard to drum up a different market for something based on what someone else asks or gets. It is always my luck that I can not achieve the results that someone else got at some point in time.

So depending on model and quality I could realistically expect 3 to 800?

How long ago were those auctions?

Was there any branding on the machine?
Advertising a particular brand or company?

    Check for rust.
    Check for repaint.

The brand was Rowe. Said that in my post.
Doesn't matter. It was gone when I got there.

Just a newbie here but I don't see any profit at $300. Figure out the max you would pay and then flash the cash in front of them, if they don't agree to your price then walk. There will always be more stuff out there to purchase. Remember you need to pay for your gas, your time, any fees and taxes that you would incur and the profit margin needs to reflect that.
