Featured Antique Covered Bowl

It is a very unusual Covered "Bowl".
It is Gilded and I believe hand painted flowers.
It is 6.5 inches High. It is about 19 inches around at the widest point.
It is ceramic with a very unusual top. There are no markings on the piece.

 

There is one listed on eBay right now, looks like same mold as yours with a different paint job. It has a faint green triangle mark on the bottom which might ring a bell with other boardies. You should look and see if you can find a painters signature somewhere on the body of your biscuit jar.

Not your usual "ginger jar" lid. I would think more likely a sugar.

 

I know I will get arguments, but they both look hobbyist painted.

 

I think I agree, blanks for hobby painting. I've found several now, described by sellers as anything from Nippon to Bavarian or just listed as origin unknown. The one above from eBay is the only one I've found with a mark on the bottom.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of them are so beautiful.

I think the Saturday Evening Girls started out as hobby porcelain painters. Or maybe it was Paul Revere Pottery. Or maybe Pauline Pottery, LOL, it's been so long since I had all that info fresh in my mind.

Anyway, some screenshots below. One is missing lid and listed as a vase.

 

I agree on hobbyist painters as a strong possibility. And yes, the Saturday Night Girls were amateurs/hobbyists.
