In part made of bone? Handmade/homemade. Looks definitely antique to me. Stands about 5cm high. Any comments appreciated. Thanks

Interesting. Look like rib bones - but I don't know from what. Presumably some smallish animal.

I see you're on the folk art trail again.:)
    Ditto!
Just to think how much love went into making that.

Thats pretty cool ! Its giving me 19th century tub chair vibes. I cant decide what it is though, sorta looks like bone, sorta looks like wood. Upholstery does look like horsehair,Id guess 19th century.I think its awesome,Id sling it in one of my houses in a second.I love that its handmade. Could you imagine giving a kid something handmade these days? They'd look at you like you were mad!

Appreciate the comment and insight. Thanks ..From what I can see the frame is both bone and wood. The main curve section is bone and the straight little back leg is wood.

I think that was made as a pincushion. Here, it could be Napoleonic POW work.

How big is it? Any chance that's a wishbone?

I have a hunch you're correct, if it's European POW work from the Napoleonic wars would fit. If it's American ... who knows. A POW in one war or another or some enterprising farmer with time on his hands. Turkey wishbone?

Is the curved bone made of 2 pieces, joined at the center back?

Very interesting comment and most intriguing thought. Did not consider any of that. I was just thinking later 19th century. It amazes me the potential ‘history’ of this little thing. Thank you!

Well it’s all very intriguing! We now seem to know the ‘what’ and the ‘when’ but the ‘who’ would probably always be speculated. Thank you for the replying.
