    hi guys

would like to get your thoughts on this plaque i bought (3 1/2 inches)

100% hand painted on porcelain, with a glass base

looks to be 3 characters on back of porcelain

never seen anything so finely painted before, picture doesnt do it justice

i was a bit worried about posting, as i wasnt sure if it was inappropriate or not

i dont see it that way, but in case it was offensive, i tried to cover his/her modesty !(not thats theres anything to cover Up)

    any thoughts appreciated

yeah i think thats what i see, or maybe 1S over T

i read alot of these were painted on porcelain blanks from other companies, so probably the blank mark

maybe 15 T .....whatever that means...
It's lovely...and looks like it was glued to ..a frame...vase...clock.....something bigger that it !! :wideyed::wideyed:

I don't see how a painting of a child like this one is offensive to anyone in any way !!!

yeah i totally agree mate, better to be sure though !!!

the glue that is showing is what is fixing the glass to the porcelain

    Is this just “wishful thinking”?

Jivvy the research is my favorite

As someone who has worked with abused kids, I very much appreciate your sensitivity.

It's not always a matter of whether anyone will be offended, but how the image will be used. As this is a painting of a child long dead, perhaps it doesn't matter.

But how an image will be used is why I always tell friends and family not to post "cute" nude/semi-nude pictures of their children.

I don't know why anyone would use glass as a support for porcelain.

Stylistically, my guess is 19th C French academic art, probably a copy from a larger painting. It looks nicely done.

As the letters seem to be impressed, I would guess they indicate the maker of the porcelain rather than the painter.

    No No.......my bad.......I wrote it wrong !!!!
This typing shit gets all flustered and in trouble sometimes......

    Sorry for any misunderstanding !!!!!
The glue looked to me ....on top of the glass...not underneath..
