It looks to be about 10 years too young for an antique :shame:

    It is a lovely landscape!

I used photoshop to zoom in and it looks like there is something printed under the signature. I can't make it out at all. Maybe it's a date or a location.

I thought the label might be a clue about the age of the academy board but it's strange. The label has an older abbreviation, Penna for Pennsylvania but, it has a two letter abbreviations St. Louis, MO and, Baltimore, MD. Those two letter abbreviations weren't used until after 1963.

The 2 letter abbreviations may not have been used in official post office addresses until 63, but many of them were already used in less formal ways long before the 60's.

I thought the two letters started to appear around the 40's but haven't found anything to confirm that.

How were Maryland and Missouri abbreviated prior to 1963? I think Md and Mo as opposed to MD and MO. The letters on the board with the cities and the states are capital, that’s why maybe.

Kardinalisimo, thank you so much for the link to the postal history of state abbreviations. It was very interesting to read/look at.
