    Hello Folks,

I love primitives and came across this object which is in a thrift thats closing in an hour or so. Any ideas on what this is? They are holding it for me. Its about 3.5 feet long, maybe 4.

    Rowing/boating?
    Bakery?
some kind of implement for carrying items on the back?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sharon

I thought that might be it too but I believe the parrying shield has the opening such that you can grip it with your hand like a shield. This object does not.

I am wondering if an oar or some other object was slid through it and it sat alongside a boat or something along those lines.

OH komokwa that is a very good guess. That is the closest thing Ive seen thus far to match this.

Given there is a fair likelihood this is not from the United States, and that is the principle area from which I like to collect primitives, Im going to pass on the purchase, so thank you to all! Im sure someone will pick it up and give it a home in short order.

Ah, another good guess. I went back to the store and a friend dropped in who enjoys tribal type things and bought them (there were two). He has given them a good home amongst other similar items. I will pass along your 2nd guess to him. I already mentioned the 1st guess.
