I have just spent eight days in England returned with this Majolica cheese keeper. It is in perfect condition, without a chip or crack, although the plate top is crazed and stained. The shape is that of a wedge of cheese. The deco is a white wicker picnic basket decorated with flowers, leaves, and a brown, yellow green moss pattern. I don't know what the Blutack on the base of the plate is, but it is very hard. Dimensions: Sides of plate - 25cm x 25cm x25cm. Height – 3.5cm Sides of wedge - 18cm x 18cm x 18cm. Height – 13cm Overall height to top of handle - 17cm Weight – 1.575 grammes What do you all think? Is it a genuine Victorian era Majolica cheese keeper? Any idea of maker? Thanks for your thoughts.
