    Hello everyone,

    I recently purchased this mirror and have no idea as to the age or provenance and was wondering if anyone had any ideas? My vague guess would be the early 19th century, but I can't say any more detail for certain.

    Normally I'd say thanks but not in this case! You turned the OP's pix upside down!

    I don't think this is an early 19thc form, could be 19th but because of it's rather odd configuration I would put it at empire revival, third quarter 19thc ish

    The pictures were upside down initially.
    The floor was on the ceiling.
    Look at the reflection in the bedroom and the reflection in those mirrors of the grass outside
    wiscbirddog placed them the correct way.

    We need to see the reverse.

    blooey, the mirror is sitting on carpet isn't it?

    yes, but that's because the OP couldn't hang it - the thing that is sitting on the rug is the pediment, i.e. the top, look at the swags, swags hang down not loop upwards!
    The op's pix are actually right way up (!) but he took the photos upside down because that was the only stable way to show it without hanging it ...
    Confused yet? :hilarious::hilarious:

    Hi Emilio, provenance is the history of the piece, where it came from, who bought it etc. That is not something anyone here can help you with. You own it, you alone can track its history.
