The canvas itself is unfortunately damaged. Initially I was thinking it’s by R. Stockholm (or holme) But now maybe Stockhealm? Not sure at all (still can’t find anything) Any ideas or comments? It’s 69cm x 50cm. Thank you and keep well

I really like it as well

I find paintings of waves soothing

And this is a nice example with the nice sunset adding more to the Feel of it

Perhaps @Aquitaine can work some magic on the sig

I checked in Davenports for combinations like stock.. stack… etc. No luck. From one angle I am seeing Staske…, which made me think of Polish names. Maybe some other sets of eyes will help. I can see it better in the farther away pic.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@Boland, That artist, in my opinion, did a great job with the ocean and sea!! However, trying to pull his/her name out of that very dark corner is next to impossible!! I don't think I did any better than @Lithographer & @charlie cheswick in their valiant efforts!! I think it's just too dark!! The colors I used worked best for me in bringing the letters out as much as I could in both images, and both tries produced slightly different results, which as least I, couldn't improve on! The top image, to the far RIGHT looks like it was starting to say "18--something.....but I could be wrong....maybe you have a date....

Many thanks. I agree great help and effort all round. I didn’t even consider that there was a date. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Wow! Speechless. Never thought artist would/could be identified. Later frame (which suits it, by way) was a bit confusing. But a very nice work. Can see why it would bring pleasure. The scene feels not just painted but observed. A subject he returned to many times. Wonder if it's not South Africa.
