I found this necklace in a lot of junk jewelry. It's marked 925. I'm not sure if the stones are jet, onyx, or glass. They feel rather lightweight. I haven't seen a chain like this before. Any idea of the age and origin? 20171113_234626-1.jpg 20171113_234641.jpg 20171113_234723.jpg 20171113_234758.jpg

It is someones failed attempt to make jewelry. The pendant base looks like silver poured into a carved charcoal block with unsoldered jump rings added.

As komo said, it is an older style chain, and glass.
Black glass faceted beads on jewellery like this are called French jet. It was often worn as mourning jewellery, just like real jet.
Necklaces like this were usually very simple, for everyday wear. The 925 marked piece may not be original. A former owner might have thought the delicate necklace too plain and added the floral part between the necklace proper and the dangle. The cabochon is not faceted, whereas the beads are.
It looks like there are two tiny lozenge marks (French?) on the clasp, which is where I would expect a mark for the original necklace. Could we see it close up?
The floral connector pendant looks Mexican, the stone could be onyx.

Chain and dangle bit are 1920s or 30s Czech. The middle bit has been added. I have several like this.

I think I would restore the necklace to it's original simpilicity, it is a piece of jewellery history.
I would put another dangle on the floral connector and make it into a separate pendant on a sterling silver chain. Two nice pieces of jewellery.

I'd try that, but I would probably end up breaking it by accident. So, would you remove the pendant but reattach the dangling bit at the end of the pendant to the main chain?

The clasp is just stamped 925, too, but with a different sized stamp from the other one. I couldn't take a close up shot.

Yes, that's what I'd do. It is dark now, tomorrow I'll take some pictures to show how to open a silver connector ring without overstressing the metal. It is very simple, but difficult to explain without showing it.

Just one pic. Opening a silver connector ring with a round cross-section:

And only open the distance you need.
I find that old/antique silver is easier to work if you warm it in your hand for 10-20 seconds.

Would you say that the small twisted ring that connects the pendant to the chains is original to the piece, or was it added with the pendant?

That is original, very much of the period.
